The union offers training for our members and manpower for our contractors. We work with you and your contractor to find the best position for you based on your expectations. Continue on our FAQ list and find the classification that fits you.
Our apprenticeship has an all-year-round application process. Applications and qualifications can be found on their website https://hvacr.jjatc.com/.
While you will eventually need to become a member to work for our contractors. You don't have to be a member to interview or apply for work with our contractors. You can talk to and send your resume to any of our contractors, once you accept the job they will advise you to join the union and recieve a dispatch.
Whether you have some experience or no experience, or if your main goal is to get your foot in the door and become an Apprentice. This is where most of us start. From parts drivers to having HVAC/R service or construction below 15 tons. If your goal is to grow and join the apprenticeship, this would be your starting point.
The apprenticeship is a staple of union training. We offer a 5 year program that trains you on all aspects of HVAC/R. From electrical, hydronics, chillers, pneumatics and DDC, basically everything you need to expect to know to become a Journey-person.
Mechanical Equipment Service-person. If you have more than a few years in the trade, however you don't have enough experience to be a Journey-person this might be more for you. Some of our MES's decide to apply for the apprenticeship, and some decide to stay as MES.
The state recognizes individuals who have more than 5 years of experience in the trade, or someone who has completed an apprenticeship program. However you define it, comes down to all parts put together. Total work hours, education in the field, and variety of equipment you have been exposed to during that time which ultimatly make a well rounded journey-person.
